Powerblock vs Ironmaster

The best dumbbells you can buy for a home gym, but which is best for you?

VS

The Best Dumbbells Money Can Buy…

If you’re on the hunt for a lifetime set of dumbbells you’ve come to the right place.

Forget about other options on the market, when it comes to dumbbells you want variety.

You have three options:

  • A rack of dumbbells taking up space
  • A pile of weights for spin-locks that take too long to change
  • A modular system like the Ironmaster or Powerblocks

Why are these better than regular dumbbells?

  • They take up a fraction of the space compared to a rack of dumbbells
  • Changing the weight takes seconds rather than minutes. This is a GOOD thing
  • They’re expandable (depending on model). You won’t outgrow these any time soon
  • They prevent injuries from laziness. i.e. Lifting too much weight because you can’t be bothered to swap out plates

Your equipment should not be restricting you in any way.

Which one is better?

They’re both fantastic, just in different ways; I own both.

The Ironmasters are more durable and can be dropped (if that’s your thing).

The Powerblocks take seconds to change weights, and are great for strip/drop sets.

Are they really worth the money?

100% yes. Next question…

Why Ironmasters?

Ironmasters  are incredibly durable. They feel less enclosed on your hands (because they are) which means you can drop them easily if you need to. I don’t think the Powerblocks would stand up to as much abuse as the Ironmasters.

Saying that, you shouldn’t be throwing your dumbbells around in the first place.

The Ironmaster range includes a number of accessories that makes up a great system. The powerbench is the best bench for a home gym, and if you’d like to have a matching set you can buy packages from Ironmaster.

Why Powerblocks?

The Powerblocks offer a workout without limitations. What does that mean?

  • Strip/drop sets without thinking. It takes the same time to go from 5kg to 25kg to 15kg and back again; literally seconds.
  • Tiny footprint; what you see if what you get.
  • Portable. If you need to take them with you, load them to full and walk out the door (slowly).

The key point for Powerblocks is they just work; no fuss, no excuses.

Which one should I buy?

Powerblocks. I love the speed of changes too much to give up.

Conclusion

Both of these products fit our sitewide criteria. They are the best of the best and there’s very little to separate them. You simply cannot buy a better set of dumbbells for a home gym.
